Promoting Good Health & Wellbeing

Promoting Good Health & Wellbeing
Good Health and Wellbeing plays a vital role at UofG Sport. We've recently undertaken a number of projects with the aim of improving our staff, colleagues and community's mental health.

Active Lifestyles Wellbeing Programme
One in four of us will experience a mental health issue at some point in our lives. Research has shown that participating in regular physical activity can have a huge impact on not only our physical health but also our mental health. UofG Sport has created a self-referral programme with the aim to improve UofG Staff and Student activity levels and their mental wellbeing.
This is a six-week well-being programme introducing beginners to physical activity through 1-2-1 coaching sessions and small group training sessions with Active Lifestyle Wellbeing coordinators.
There is no cost for staff and students to apply and complete this programme.

Student Mental Health Podcast
UofG Sport's Active Lifestyles Coordinator, Julie Hughes, joins Sarah Bolitho and Seona McKenzie to discuss how sport and physical activity play a crucial role in supporting mental health by providing a distraction, promoting social connections, and improving overall well-being of students.

Uni Mental Health Day
Uni Mental Health Day is an annual day to get the nation talking about student mental health and working together to make mental health a university-wide priority. No matter who you are, you can take part today!
